About

DidierProfessionaly I am active in the European innovation scene as a corporate advisor with a specialisation in venture capital for technology driven SME’s. I focus on the internet and the innovative food sector.

Heading an international alumni association I facilitate entrepreneurial mindsets from Singapore/China to Silicon Valley.

I am entrepreneurial in nature, enrolled/involved in several start-ups and very much like wandering around capturing and benchmarking new business models and ideas.

In the end I hold my anker in Flanders, Europe where I am having my native soil.

Indeed, as I am international by nature, I like travelling so much on this -according to T.Friedman- constant flattening world. Another thing I do a lot are (preferably outdoor) sports (MTB, running, hiking) or swimming.

Probably most of the topics covered in this blog are internet, venture capital, entrepreneurship and innovation.

… more about innovation

For companies to remain competitive or to be able to grow, innovation should be part of their business. I would say that it is of elementary importance. Nowadays the term is becoming more a buzzword and widely used all over the world by all sorts of people in all possible places and circumstances. Is it idleness or a general misunderstanding? I don’t know. But too fast people think they’re innovative, say that they’re implementing innovative ideas and strategies or that they operate an innovative business. Here one should be careful and know that ‘innovation’ is not a synonym for ‘change’, nor one for ‘improvement’. Personally I favor the P. Drucker’s definition of innovation. He describes it as ‘change that creates a new dimension of performance’.
